Many times people want to know why they should be the one to forgive? Regardless if you feel you’ve been victimized in a situation, the purpose of forgiveness is to free yourself from carrying around the hurt and pain you’ve endured, and taking back your power!
Through the act of forgiveness you take back the power you’ve been giving away to the other person by holding onto, and harboring the anger, resentment, judgement and fear!
Forgiveness is not saying that you are condoning the person for their acts and/or their behavior! Nor does it mean you have to continue a relationship with the them! It is simply saying that you are no longer choosing to give YOUR power away to them, and are releasing this burden to God and the Angels for transmutation and healing! If forgiveness seems impossible for you at this moment in time, then at least be willing to forgive the spirit Being that resides within them.
It’s okay to be pissed-off! Outraged! Angry! It’s just at some point you need to heal and become whole and complete again, and on all levels; emotionally, mentally, physically, spiritually, sexually and financially to name just a few. The only way to do that is by releasing this situation to your Higher-Self, God and the Angels in order for the healing to begin for everyone involved. We may even sometimes need to forgive ourselves along the way in the healing process.
As difficult as this may be to perceive, you are the one who is already victorious, as forgiveness is ultimately, allowing and receiving unconditional love and compassion for yourself, by trusting in faith, and believing in the higher-power to take over and right the wrongs, so that only good will come out of this experience.
Here are a few suggestions that you can do to initiate the healing process:
- Placing your hands over your Heart Chakra which is located in the center of your chest and affirming: I am willing to be open and receptive to healing this situation and/or life experience through the act of forgiveness for the good of all involved.
- You can also visualize green and/or pink light streaming through this area filling you with healing energy (emerald green) and love (pink) to begin the healing process.
- Another way to begin to release this is to write a letter to God and the Angels stating all of your worries, fears, anger, resentment, etc. about this experience and then burning it in a outside fire container when you are done to release the energy for the Angels to carry to God for transmutation and healing.
- You can call on Archangel Michael for protection, courage, and guidance. Archangel Raphael for healing and Archangel Chamuel for love and compassion for all involved.
Forgiveness is one of the ultimate acts of unconditional love, and is also one of the highest vibrational energies of Being! If you can do this, you have mastered the art of allowing … Let Go and Let God!

Forgiveness is so powerful, and healing and yet so difficult at the same time. This is a great article on how forgiveness is for you and how it can help you heal!
Forgiving myself has been my biggest hurdle. Thank you Dr. Maxwell for providing the ladder.
Forgiveness is “Let Go and Let God.”
and giving gratitude is the key~
I like placing my hands over my Heart Chakra and doing the Ho-oponopono till I fall asleep!
It works. And that’s Healing!
Thank you dear Dr. Maxwell for sharing this article with kindness and loving words.
Forgiveness opens the heart so love can fill it. Thank you.
Forgiveness, what an amazing liberating technique! The Mind, Body, Spirit certification program uncovered a level of unforgiven behavior that I was unaware of in my daily walk. Thank you, Dr. Maxwell for sharing and being an agent of healing!
I finally forgave a family member that had wronged my father and grandmother and the healing after I let that anger and resentment go is unable to be measured. So many lives benefited from me letting it go!!! The weight of the hatred was unbearable! I’ve now replaced it with love and the pay back is immeasurable!!!
Thank you!!!
Forgiveness is something we all need to understand. It is the act of loving ourself, it is empowering and life changing. It’s something that we need to do to heal our soul.
Thank you for this. I can see how powerful the exercises might be. Very useful. Thank you for sharing. We can never have too many resources.
I think this is one of the most powerful healing techniques. To me forgiveness is something that has many layers of understanding but in the first and foremost layer, forgiveness means to let go of the consequences of the situation or whatever happened.
It doesnt mean its OK that someone did something, it simply means im not willing to continue hurting about it and living the consequences of it. And I give you the Blessing in the Name of God to do the same.
Forgiveness is an amazing door opener but it is work in progress, throughout life’s journey. The hardest for me to realize, acknowledge and then address had been forgiveness to myself. Somehow it is always easier to forgive someone else but to forgive myself I think was a leap into humility and a cascade of cleansing and perception changes.
