This year is abundantly filled with this auspicious energy to support YOU in creating the necessary time and space to solely focus on indulging in magnificent you and being good to yourself!
We get so busy wearing all of our hats between our family, friends, community and business; that we sometimes forget to include ourselves on our own lists. If we’re even fortunate enough to make it on there we easily move ourselves down or worse, we get completely removed by accommodating the others we are sharing our beautiful lives with each day. We all know the benefits of taking some daily “Me” time for not only ourselves but for those we are interacting with yet, we allow life to get in the way as we put ourselves at the bottom of what needs to be accomplished for the day.
Here are a few exercises that you can do by giving yourself in just 10 minutes a day:
- Deep diaphragmatic breathing … In my practice, I realized the majority of people were not only breathing shallow from their daily stresses but backwards too! When you breathe, you want to take a deep breath in through your nose; filling and expanding your lungs which lowers your diaphragm and expands your abdomen by pushing your tummy outwards. When you exhale you want to draw your abdomen in which uplifts your diaphragm which will compress on your lower lungs and moves the stale and stagnate energy up and out through your mouth. Try it, you’ll be amazed at the ease of your body and organ function once you implement this simple technique just a few times a day.
- One of the best ways to recharge your energy is simply by going for a brief walk outside and connecting with Mother Nature. This will not only clear your mind, body and spiritual energy of the so called “stuff” you’ve absorbed from others and your surrounding environment but it raises your personal vibrational energy at the same time. Walking barefoot in the grass, hugging a tree or splashing around in the ocean, lake, river or stream is a phenomenal way to transmute any lower vibrational energy caused by stress too.
- Placing a bouquet of flowers in your home and office area aids in not only clearing and raising your environmental energy but promotes healing on many levels including many of your 5 senses; and offers esthetics to your decor’ simultaneously. You can buy some from a flower shop, at the market or pick them from your garden (as these are the best vibrationally) or in the wild. Placing some of the petals in your bath with Epson salt and a candle, Ahhhhh!
- Acknowledging and monitoring your self-talk or negative mind chatter will immensely improve your outlook on life and with others, increases your self-esteem and promotes healing; emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually. Spending a few minutes before going to bed at night affirming and giving gratitude for your magnificent self will not only give you a better nights sleep but will energetically draw more positive life experiences to you! When you do positive affirmations it’s best to do them in the first, second and third person as that’s how we identify ourselves. It’s the you, me, she/he, her/him and I; and be sure to state your name whenever possible and point to yourself where you can visually see it and physically feel it across your heart chakra which is located in the center of your chest. The most profound method is by doing your affirmations in front of the mirror as you look into your beautiful eyes, as the eyes are the windows to the soul. So for example; I love you Stacey, Stacey is loved, you are loved Stacey, I am loved, loving and lovable! I then follow up with other words that are significant to me such as talented, creative, intelligent, beautiful, healthy, youthful and full of vibrancy. This also heals and retrains the subconscious mind of your magnificence while planting the seeds for a more positive and beautiful life’s experiences.
Implementing these few simple self-care exercises promotes the healing benefits that are essential to living a balanced cherished life on all levels of Being; emotionally, mentally, physically, financially and spiritually to name just a few. It’s when you truly begin to “Be Good to Yourself” that you’ll find the treasures you’ve been searching for. It’s within that process of self-love through the receiving of self-care that you’ll rediscover your soul’s purpose and ultimately, begin living the life of your dreams with passion!
If you’re feeling that you need permission to make the commitment for yourself or even with others, you may use this article as your confirmation and permission slip to set aside time each day or on a weekly basis to Be Good to Yourself and focus on Magnificent YOU! Namaste’

I loved your article. I’m an outdoor girl, so going barefoot in my gardens is a lifestyle. I love feeling that direct connection to Mother earth. I use deep diaghragmatic breathing whenever I need to take a step back and relax, and I buy myself fliwers each week, just to say, “I love you Kathy!”

Indulging in magnificent me is the best idea I’ve heard of in a long time. Acknowledging and mentoring my self talk, correctly breathing with diaphragmatic breathing, speaking positive affirmations over myself, my life, and my desires, and doing all of the “Be Good To YOURself Activitities” including the ones you cover in your Mind, Body, Spirit Practitioner and Facilitator Certification Program, and most importantly, taking the MBS program, will get you exactly where you want to be.
It seems so simple. A few flowers, or a walk in the park seem so insignificant. In actuality, they are a mighty force connecting us to all that is. I love the way you wrote about this concept. There is a healing grace just in reading it. Thank you Dr. Maxwell.
Meditation, Deep diaphragmatic breathing, buy and planting flowers, go outside and connecting with Mother Earth, affirmations … I love to be good to myself and I know I do deserve it! Thank you dear Dr. Maxwell!
Love these exercises and I’m practicing a few of them regularly, including the ones I’ve learned from taking your Peace Love Wings® Mind, Body, Spirit Practitioner and Workshop Facilitator Certification Program.
What a wonderful reminder to celebrate and indulge in one’s self. Thank you so much for keeping me on my beautiful toes!
I see it now as an obligation to “Be good to yourself”. God as our father wants this for his child, as we want it for ours.
Great tips! I use to bring in a fresh bouquet of flowers for my desk every week. Then I moved. I changed the way I work, and I forgot all about that habit. Thanks for the gentle reminder ~ I’ll have to do it today!
This is so VERY important and so many of us in all of our duties do not include ourselves as one of those duties. I’ve told others to add themselves to their daily checklist!!! YOU is the most important word if one wants to live abundantly and balanced!!! Thank you so much for the reminders and simple techniques to pass along! Namaste’
Dr. Maxwell,
Thank you!
I have noticed this too and of course, they are then not connecting to the higher energies of the diaphragm.
If a person is in front of a big mirror and can see their own aura, while taking deep diaphragmatic breaths correctly, most people will be really motivated to follow your instructions. Thanks, Stacey!!

My summer has been devoted to paying attention to my needs and listening to my inner wisdom. The biggest way of charging my energy is by connecting with nature. I never realized how grounding Mother Nature could be. We are so blessed that we can get so much joy from so little.
Thank you for articulating this so well, Dr.Maxwell!
Dr. Maxwell,
These simple exercises have been the BEST thing I’ve done this year! I cannot even begin to tell you how positively it has improved and literally transformed all aspects of my life. Thank you so much for sharing! With sincere gratitude! Namaste’
